Originally from Bentonville, Arkansas, Sydney relocated to Chicago at the age of 16 to pursue a career in comedy, where she began studying at The Second City Training Center.

After turning 21, Sydney began as an intern for Chicago Underground Comedy
, where she eventually became a producer and programming director, later retiring from the show after four years at the age of 25.

In addition to performing standup, she also recently joined the teaching faculty at
The Second City Training Center, where she currently teaches stand-up comedy and storytelling. She is also the founder of Rhetoric Done Right™ a company that trains people in the corporate setting to become better public speakers through humor.

Her many talents and interests include:

Being forcibly removed from a major network television studio in 2012, having her writing repeatedly refused by The Boston Review
, being rejected from graduate programs, and getting laid-off from law firms.

A former nationally-ranked  IPDA professional speaker and debater, Sydney also holds state championship titles in Humorous Interpretation (HI/DI), Solo, and Storytelling. She has a bachelor's degree in English (creative writing), and a minor in speech from the University of Arkansas Monticello. Sydney is a graduate of The Second City Training Center's  A-E improvisation program.
 She frequently tours University campuses across the United States, speaking to incoming freshman, and making presentations to college trustees. She can also bake a mean blueberry crumble.
